   Use of the Latent Dementia Phenotype for Differential Diagnosis in the NACC UDS

   Proposal Description:
   Specific Aims:                                                                    1) This study aims to compare the cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy of the NACC UDS neuropsychological test battery to the diagnostic accuracy of the latent construct d' in the differential diagnosis of dementia. The latent construct d' has been used previously as a marker for dementia severity, but has not yet been investigated for its usefulness in differential diagnosis.       2)  A secondary aim of the study is to evaluate which method of diagnosis is the better predictor of autopsy confirmed diagnoses and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of the two methods at three different time points: baseline evaluation, last in-person testing session before autopsy, and autopsy diagnosis.                                                                        3)  The final aim of the project is to longitudinally evaluate the change in       diagnostic accuracy of the better of the two performing methods.
